Work | Ayo's Birthday Makeover

Lagos, February 20th 2015.

Ayo stopped by for a birthday makeover last friday. She wanted a look to complement her powder blue dress, but didn't want any crazy colours on her face LOL. We settled for a neutral shade on her eye lids, a touch of dark blue in her crease and nude lips.

Product Review | Hegai & Esther Brow Definer*

Last year Gbemi of Hegai & Esther sent me her Brow Definer in Nubia for review. I have since used it not only on myself but also on many of my clients.

Hegai & Esther Brow Definer comes in a small clear glass-like plastic jar with a back cover. The band name and logo is marked boldly on the cap and through the clear jar you can see the shade of the product. Included in its white box is a travel size synthetic angled brush.

Hegai & Esther Brow Definer has a light smooth cream texture that glides on effortlessly. In addition to how easy it is to apply, its also easy to blend which makes it suitable for a wide range of skin tones. I've used it on my self, on clients darker than me and also clients much lighter than I am (see my previous post)
Unlike the OFRA brow gel which was my favourite until now,  it doesn't dry down too quick, allowing more time to blend or clean up mistakes. This brow definer is available in 2 shades Nubia & Ebony.

They retail for N2,000-N2,500/$10 compared to Anastasia's DipBrow Pomade at N4,500/$18 or OFRA Brow gel at $24, its great value for your money.

Hegai & Esther Brow Definer is available from Hegai & Esther.com and Stella's Addiction Makeup Studio & Boutique.

I will definitely be repurchasing this product. As you may have noticed above, I liked it so much we now carry them at the studio. Great value for money. Recently I have favoured brow gels over pencils (which used to be my favs) and this one is now a staple in my kit.

Have you tried brow gels? Which is your favourite?

WORK | Oyinda gets a Makeover

Lagos, January 3rd 2015.

This is one for the simple files. On her way to a wedding, Oyinda stopped by for a simple but pretty look with no bright colours... I went for soft skin tone shades on her eyes lids with mild definition in the crease and light pink lips. We skipped gloss on the lips for extended wear.

Product Review: Anne Elise Chic Curl

Last year I was sent some hair from Anne Elise, a brand that specialises in real hair extensions. Anne Elise is most known for their raw hair blends a mix hair of 2-3 different origins creating a best of both worlds type scenario. I was sent samples from their Textures range. The Anne Elise Textures range is a range of processed ore-styled hair extensions.

If I was rating Anne Elise's packaging on a scale of 1 to 10 would give them a whooping 10! The packaging is gorgeous, very girly and simply beautiful. I received the package in a white cloth bag, inside the white cloth bag were 2 boxes; one with complementary hair care products: a shower cap, paddle brush and clear bag and the other with a satin draw string bag in which lay the hair.

Anne Elise Chic Curl is processed real hair that comes pre-curled at the tips. From the weft the 1st 3/4 of the hair is slightly wavy and the last 1/4 hold the curl. I was sent 300gr of Chic curl; a bundle each of 14", 16" and 18". The 18" was clearly longer than the remaining 2 bundles but there was very little difference if any between the 14" and the 16" bundles.
The texture is smooth and silky to the touch but it still blended in well with my freshly relaxed edges. The first time I wore the Chic Curl and for the first 2 weeks or so after I had it sewn in,  I could run my fingers through the hair from roots to tips with no interruption at all, no shedding and not just right rafter brushing it either. At first the curls stood out so the different lengths did not blend in well, but with wear in a few days they blended in well.

I kept the weave in for 4 weeks the first time I had it installed and did absolutely nothing to it. No styling, no serum, nothing at all because it didn't need anything. All I did was brush it (with the paddle brush it came with) and sleep in a satin cap. The curled became waves and the waves stayed in till I washed the weave.
Washed and air dried

After the 1st wash the hair looked straight with small waves at the tips where the curls had been. After re-installing the hair I had the hair curled with a curling wand and it held the curl/waves for about a week.

Anne Elise Real Hair is available from anneelise.com, 9B Emma Abimbola Cole, Lekki Phase 1 Lagos or call 08176642120 for more info.

After my second install and re-styling

I'm sure you can tell by now but I thoroughly enjoyed Anne Elise Chic Curl. At first I had my reservations since processed hair tends not to fair as well as virgin hair but the pros definitely out weigh the cons here. I especially love that the texture is smooth enough for my fingers to run through it without a hitch even after it was washed and restyled.

Nkem's White Wedding

Remember Nkem? My bride with the 1000 watt smile. She's back, this time for her white wedding. This time Nkem wanted a neutral eye, nude lips and a lot of definition for her face. I went for sparkly gold peachy tones on her eyes, a perfect base, some bronzy warmth around her face and under her cheekbones and of course a nude lip...

She loved it and so did we!
