Strip Lash 101

Monday, September 20, 2010

I bought my first pair of lashes about 3 years before I actually left the house wearing them, so believe me when I say practice is key. As requested by Erica, here is how I put on (strip) false lashes.

You will need lashes, glue and tweezers. You may also need mascara, eyeliner and a lash curler.

Step 1:
Press and slide the lash with your thumb to remove it from its pack. I do this instead of pulling at the lash to prevent disfiguring the lash.

Hold the lash against your eye to measure the length of the band against your lash line. If it is too long trim it from the outer corner (the longer corner).

Step 2:
Coat the lash band with a thin layer of glue,

Step 3:

Looking down into a mirror and holding your eyelid taut, place the lash. You should place the lash as close to you lash line as possible. Not on your lashes but the skin just after your lash line.

Secure the lash in place. Start at one end and work your way to the other end. I start with the outer corner and work my way to the inner corner.
Tip: if your hands are not steady keep your elbows on a table for balance.
When your lashes are in place, pinch them in place with tweezers or your fingers.

Step 4:
To merge the false lash with your own lashes, "weave". I picked up this handy technique from Eve Pearl herself ;-)
Place your pinky finger behind your lashes and apply mascara on your own lash with zigzag motions,
pushing your lashes into the false lash and unifying them.
Step 5:
Mascara on false lashes is optional, the style of the lash and the look you are trying to get should determine whether you do or don't.
When they are dry curl them with a lash curler if necessary.

All done!

  4. Just a day. I know the glue is meant for hair so feel free to use eye lash glue if thats what you are used to. I like this one because it dries faster and it dries with a rubbery finish that can be easily be removed or rubbed off if it get on where it's not needed.
