Sam Fine In London!!! December 2010

What do these beautiful women have in common?

Yup, it's make up by the amazing Sam Fine.

Earlier this month I reviewed his book (Fine Beauty) and DVD (Fine: The Basics of Beauty), so you already know that I am a huge fan of his. I was hoping to meet him at the NY Make up show in May but to my dismay he got pulled away for work at the last minute.
This December, we get another chance not only to meet him but in fact learn from him!!! Can you tell I'm psyched? I totally am. Just bought my ticket so by the grace of God I'll be there :-)

He will be holding a masterclass and seminar on the 3rd & 4th of December 2010 at the Dominion Theatre, London England. For more details and ticket sales Click Here. The early bird discount ends today but registration is on till the 21st of November 2010.

See you there :-)

NOTD: Prune Stellaire

The Bourjois "1 second" line (1 nail= 1stroke= 1 second) comes with a wide fan effect brush and a specially pigmented formula made to save application time. The formula makes it possible to be done with just one coat (I used two though). The brush is wider than your vintage nail polish brush and also slightly "U" shaped on one side so it fits the shape of your nail.
I tried it in shade T9: Prune Stellaire. .

Verdict:
Lovely shimmery deep plum shade, right in my comfort zone. The fan brush does make application easier and faster and I'm loving the "U" shape at the side. I promise the presence of my name in the shade has nothing to do with it my liking it ;-). Unfortunately I have wide nails so I needed 2 strokes and I did two coats because I was painting over french tips.

Product Review: Sensationnel Premium Too Euro Straight

New Look: Bangs are "Us"
Hair and Make up by ME!!!

My new look, the "It Girl Do" as named by a friend of mine, is a long straight hair do with a full frindge. I usually don't like hair on my face but as the heat of Summer is long gone and the cold is upon us I figured the timing couldn't be better.
During and after (with the long bangs)

First I left the bangs really long (in my eyes) but after wearing it long for a few days I realized I had to go a little shorter :-(

The hair is Sensationnel's Premium Too: Euro Straight Weave in 20 inches, color 1B.

I fixed it (myself!) in a closed weave style, finished with a home made closure made with the same weave.

Verdict:
A nice weave, however if you are not in the habit of caring for your weave, this one is not for you. In order to look good, it needs to be brushed often (several times in the day). It's easy to style (curl or straighten), it even gets wavy when you braid it. I straightened and or blow dried it often to keep it light with the "white girls flow".

Product Review: Urban Decay Book of Shadows III

After missing out on the Book of Shadows II (Alice in wonderland) I was thrilled to find the Book of Shadows III (UD<3NYC) on sale in Paris. This book initially launched in the Time Square Sephora NY on the 28th of August 2010 and sold out in less than an hour!
Now you understand why I was excited to stumble upon the Book of Shadows III in Sephora on the Champs Elysees.

Without any further ado, I present to you Urban Decay Book of Shadows III: UD NYC
It lights up and everything! LOL

Swatches:
Zero (black) & Ransom (shimmery purple)

Verdict:
Great value. Especially if like me, you are looking to try out Urban Decay products without investing in individual eye shadows (they cos16 each). The eye shadows are highly pigmented; my swatches are the result of one swipe and no eye shadow base. The pencils give a good color pay off too, with little effort.
The pack is very artsy and pretty, it lights up and everything! That  creates a it a bit of a collectors item feel to it. The top does not stay open on its own though, you need to hold it. It has a mirror on the top half and all the products in a drawer (that can be pulled out completely) just below. It is quite bulky but you can pull out the product layer when in use.
Like I said its great value. For €45 you get 16 shades of eye shadow, two miniature pencils and a miniature version of their world famous eye shadow primer potion plus the pretty deco on the top LOL.

I got my Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol III 10 days ago (the day after it arrived :-). If you want one, you will need to hurry because it is a limited edition (even if it has appeared in Paris months after the initial launch ;P)

I'll be sharing some looks using this palette soon, so watch out for that. Till then...

FOTD: Inspiration Sam Fine take 1

So I recently re read and re-watched my Sam Fine literature result... inspiration.
I still haven't found the perfect shade of foundation for a contour (still not dark enough) but with what I have I managed to...

Face:
L'Oreal  Studio secrets magic perfecting base, Black opal stick foundation in Truly topaz (highlight), Beautiful bronze (my shade) and Carob (contour), set with Sleek's translucent pressed powder in Medium, superior pressed powder in Biscuit and contour powder from the Dark contour kit . Finished with sheer cover blush in Rust also from Sleek make up.
Eyes:
My brows are filled with MUFE brow pencil in No.3, Black Opal powder in Truly topaz on my brow none set with Superior pressed powder in Biscuit.
On my eye lids NYX eye shadow base in white, mac eye shadow in Mulch and Embark in my crease.
Eve Pearl’s liquid eyeliner to line my upper eyelid and Sleek's white pencil on my water line and twist up eye pencil in midnight on my lower lid. Finally 43 lashes from Mac on my upper lid and #502 from Monda on my lower lid.
Lips:
My lips are lined with lip pencil in Cinnamon from Sleek and filled with Burberry lip glow in Rosewood.
It didn't quite turn out the way I had hoped; partly because my contour is not dark enough, but I think I came close. What do you think?
