NOTD: Blue Flutter

Playing with my nail art tools again, this time with really short nails (lots of typing going on these days).

For these nails I used clear nail tips, blue butterfly stickers from Claire's, gold iridescent glitter, pink acrylic powder and acrylic liquid.

First I stick the clear top on and cut them really short. Then I stuck the butterflies on and went over them with acrylic powder and liquid. I sprinkled the the glitter on in between coats of acrylic powder and liquid. Finally file, buff and one coat of Seche Vite.

That's it!

Product Review: Urban Decay Body Jewelry

Remember SJP's Chanel tattoos at the Oscars? I don't care too much for tattoos these days but I like the idea of jewelry style tattoos. A few weeks ago I got a pack from Urban Decay as a gift for spending 70Euros at their Sephora stand.

It comes with three sheets of tattoos with different designs including chains, studs, flowers feathers and the infamous Rihanna style stars.

I tried one of the starts, and a studded chain.
Verdict:
They are set to retail in 20€ in in December. I'm not really into tattoos but I like that these come in the form of  jewelry.
After application you are advised (it says so on the pack) to set it with their Hi-Definition powder, I don't have it so I didn't. When first applied they look a little shinny but after a few hours the shine goes away and they look really real. How long it lasts is said to depend on skin type and application, mine were fine for about 2 days. The "ring" started to fade on the very first day, the "star" went next. The "bracelet" only started to fade in some spots on the 2nd day.

Product Review: Urban Decay Naked Palette

I really dragged my feet on this one, I wasn't going to get it until I got a voucher for 20% off anything at Sephora (in Lille) and I figure I had to use it :-)

Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck and Half baked

Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal
Eye shadow primer potion

Swatches:
L-R:Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half baked, Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal.
The pencil: Whisky (on top) and Zero (under)

Verdict:
This chocolate brown velvet palette with gold lettering is great value for money. The eye shadows are 1.3g each, same as the individual shadows that retail at 17. So with this palette you get 12 shades worth €204 for only 40! Thats without adding the two sided pencil and miniature pot of eye shadow primer potion. I also prefer this packaging to the book of shadows because its smaller and fits easily into my storage.
The 12 shades range from beige to gunmetal, with matte, shimmery and sparkly shades. Great pigmentation with the eye shadows and the pencils. The primer potion is the same as always... good stuff.
If you like neutral shades you will love this. Plus every one needs neutrals right?

NOTD: Purple With A Purpose

Indoors with flash
In natural light
Hey my lovelies,

Sorry for the break in transmission. My dissertation is due soon, so I'm going to be super busy for a couple of months. I probably won't be able to keep up with my usual pace but I'll try anyway.

I'm doing a lot if typing these days so I figured really short nails would come in handy. I also left the tips slightly rounded for a change.

Purple with a purpose by OPI is a beautiful light purple shimmery shade, much lighter than many of the shades I usually wear. You can wear 1 coat for a semi see-through  cover or 2 coats like I did for an opaque finish.
I really like this one, its bright and catchy but still wearable.

Creative Nail Design Matte top coat *Take 1*

This would have been my NOTD (Nail of the day) but it was a disaster so I only had it on for a few minutes.

I was really excited to try out my CND matte top coat but the results were quite upsetting. This is my first time with matte top coat so I'm hoping I did something wrong.
I wore it over OPI's Over the Taupe and this is what I got...

Before:
After:
Obviously not what I was expecting when I spent $10 on this.

I'll try it again, see what happens and do a do a full review for you guys.

This is not over!

FOTD: My Phobia for Silver

Thanks to a traumatizing childhood experience, I haven't worn silver eye shadow in almost 10 years...

The year was 2001, my high school's Awards night; our very own Oscars if you will. It was our chance to ditch our uniforms and get all dolled up. At this point I had just started wearing make up and had the basics down; Black eye liner, mascara, brown "hot chocolate"lipstick as lip liner and lip gloss. Simple and effective. We were all dressed and ready to go, enter my dear friend "O"
"Look what I have" she announced beaming with pride
And that was it, I left my comfort zone and ventured into the wild. On went the healthy coats of silver eye shadow. The result... well have you seen the movie "It"? Enough said.
The pictures from our night of glam started popping up soon after and I cringed every time I saw myself in one, Hideous I tell you, hideous!
So anyway here I am  years later, facing my fears and looking pretty damn good too (If I may say so myself LOL)

Here's the break down...

Base:
I’m wearing HD foundation from Make Up Forever in 180, set with translucent loose powder in Dark and sheer cover blush in Rust from Sleek Make up.
Eyes:
Grey color blend contact lenses from Bescon.
I filled my brows in with No 3 brow pencil from MUFE, on my brow bone I'm wearing Black Opal foundation in Truly Topaz set with light brown eye shadow from the Sleek Safari palette.
On my eyelids I started with NYX eye shadow base in w/pearl. Over that, in the inner half of my eye lid is Sleek eye dust in Innocent and In the Nude then gray and black eye shadow from the graphite palette in the outer half and crease.
I used black liquid liner from Yves Rocher  to line my upper eyelid and No 54 (dark blue) pencil from MUFE on my water line set with Dark blue eye shadow from the Sleek Bohemian palette. I finished my eyes with touch MAC No 34 lashes, BTW these will have to be my least favorite lashes from MAC yet *side eye*.
Lips:
Lip glow in Nutmeg from Burberry.

Today's lesson:  Face your fears!

FOTD: "Up for it" Halloween Glitz

This look is dedicated to my dear sister ( ;-) you know who you are), who told me she heard pink eye shadow screams "I'm up for it" (slutty). Surely this overly glittery pink ensemble will scream even louder LOL!
Bling! LOL
Eyes:
I filled my brows in with MAC Penultimate brow marker. On my brow bone: Truly Topaz foundation from Black Opal set with light brown eye shadow from the Sleek Safari palette.
On my eye lids NYX eye shadow base in pearl, a mix if the purple and pink eye shadow shades from the Sleek Circus palette and black shadow from the same palette in my crease. I covered that with Glitter dip-it liner in Diablo (pink) & Rebel (purple) from Sleek and loose magenta glitter (held in place by the glitter dip-it and some clear mascara).
Yves Rocher liquid eyeliner to line my upper eyelid and purple eye shadow on my water line.
Hope you had a great Halloween!
xoxo
