Product Review: Sleek Studio Flash a Pout

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

The Sleek Studio (also referred to as S.Studio) is a Nigerian brand founded by the Sleek Makeup Nigeria's MD here in Nigeria. A while ago I introduced you to their Skin Care Range Click Here for the post. Today however we are are on to their colour cosmetics line. If you follow me on INSTAGRAM (which you totally should by the way) you know I was recently sent a bag full of goodies to try out. As soon as I unpacked the bag the very first product I was itching to try was Flash 'a' Pout.

Flash 'a' Pout is a long lasting lip stain with a matte finish.  they are available in 6 shades: Naivety, Duke, Siren, Forbidden, Coined and Revolution. Now by matte, I mean absolutely MATTE. It doesn't get any more matte this. They apply like a creamy-liquid, dry completely matte and smell like coconuts. The pigmentation is also very impressive, with the exception of Coined (which isn't as opaque as the other shades). Once dry you will experience a little stickiness if you put your lips together but its not excessive so it doesn't bother me.
Flash 'a' Pout wears pretty much all day! Yup I said it! I applied this in the morning and it survived my 2 cups of coffee, breakfast and lunch! I took it off at the end of the day with a wet wipe and it came off easy without leaving a stain behind. They are also kiss proof (don't ask me how I know ;-)

Tip: If you want to wear these true to their shade (as seen in the tube and in the swatches below),  I recommend applying the product to each lip independently and not smacking your lips together until dry. This way you avoid getting streaks in your otherwise perfect pout.
A little goes a long way so you could dap on a little and spread to sheer it down, or apply it like you would a lipstick for an opaque finish.

Flash 'a' Pout retails for N1550 for 7ml of product really affordable considering the the quality and also in comparison with other lip stains on the market; House of Tara Highshine Lip Stain (N1,650), Kayge Cosmetics N2,500.

All lit up
Flash 'a' Pout comes in a clear tube with a black cap like many other lip glosses. However what make this one different is the in built LED light (you click it on by pressing a button on the cap) and mirror (on the side of the tube. While I am not one to apply my makeup in the dark if you were ever in need of a touch up say in the middle of the dance floor with this you would actually be able to pull it off seamlessly. Be careful with these though, I dropped one on my desk and the cover broke off from the tube ;-(

Flash 'a' Pout is available from Sleek Studio at No. 64b Anifowose street off Kofo Abayomi, 17 Calcutta Crescent Apapa other Sleek studio locations, as from their independent distributors and Franchises nation wide. Click her for LIST.

A shimmery light pink-gold shade. Not as pigmented as the rest of the bunch.
A dark brick red shade; I think almost every skin tone can pull this off
Bright Barbie pink for the bolder ones (sheer it down for a more wearable look on dark skin)
Bright orange; a daring shade but I'm actually looking forward to creating a look around this one
Bright orange based red
Dark purple: My favourite of t6he bunch! I absolutely love this. I feel so strong with this one don't ask me why LOL

I'm totally loving these! I would definitely repurchase Duke in particular as it combines my 2 favourite things; Dark & Purple (it was love at 1st sight). If you do not like matte lip products you should run from these because they are extremely matte. If you like matte lip products and are looking for a good price:quality ratio you should definitely give these a try!
